The Patented EDSS Shoe is a wide web, rolled toe designed shoe. It is made of a strong heat-treated aluminum alloy for light weight durability. The shoe has holes drilled and tapped for easy attachment of EDSS parts. The hole at the toe is used for attaching the EDSS pad to the shoe and is tapped for the specific stainless steel bolt included in the system. The holes along the inside of the rim are used for precise attachment of the wedge rails. The EDSS pad is made of a flexible clear plastic
wedge pad. There is a steel insert imbedded at the toe and is used for secure attachment
to the shoe. The moulded frog portion is to allow for precise fastening of the Frog
Inserts.
The Frog Inserts are hard plastic, frog shaped wedge pieces. There are a total of 12 pieces (6 elevations) plus screws to attach them to the EDSS pad included in the system. Adjustments with Frog Inserts can be made without removing the shoe. These inserts are used to transfer weight bearing support to the caudal portion of the foot. Frog Insert in conjunction with the Impression Material allow for loading of the frog and increasing blood circulation for optimal healing.
An EDSS put together. Here you can clearly see the shoe attached to the pad, a frog insert attached into the special placement slot in the pad, and the wedge rails attached to the quarters and heels of the shoe.
