Why the Natural Balance Shoe?

For the past decade several independent researchers have been studying equine biomechanics and the effects of farriery. This collective effort has been to achieve an greater understanding of equine requirements, with the aim of extending their useful working life and preventing common lameness's. 

Their collective research and information has been finally brought together, the result is the Natural Balance Shoe.

The Natural Balance Shoe (NBS) has been produced as a global project between TFP,  EDSS.Inc, (USA), MNC Distribution (UK),  and Malaysian Horseshoes Sdn Bhd. 

The NBS has been drop forged to Malaysian Standards, this produces a shoe with a very high standard of finish and more importantly the correct levels of hardness, essential for durability and shock dissipation.

The NBS is very easy to work, can be fitted hot or cold and is easy to clip.

The nail holes are extremely clean and are precisely tooled for "e" head nails.

 The solid heels are easy to punch or drill stud holes.   Heels from the foot surface are safed off with no sharp edges.

. Farriers are advised to familiarize themselves with Natural Balance principles. A good starting point is the book "New Hope for Soundness" by Gene Ovincek. Particular attention should be shown to the sole callus that will accurately plot the distal border of P3 and thus the optimal dynamic point of breakover.

We are not prepared to make outlandish claims about performance and remedial qualities of the NBS however we know through practical experience that once mastered, appreciation from both horses and client  is very satisfying.  Applied correctly, NBS have been shown to increase stride length and improve general soundness of horses.

Technical points of the Natural Balance Shoe.

The specific hardness has been calculated to prevent clatter (too hard) and still remaining durable without being too soft.

The Fullering across the toe aids traction, especially when turning and preventing slipping. The ground surface at the toe has been seated to eliminate undue pressure on the sole callous.

Twelve nail positions allows for choice and clipping options.

The inner shoulders of the shoe at the heel have been forged square to ensure material impaction as per the findings of "New Hope for Soundness".
