What is thrush?

Thrush is a bacterial infection of the frog that results in degeneration of the frog tissues.

There are two types of thrush:
•The first type affects the horny frog.

• The second type affects the sensitive frog.

The infection produces a foul smelling discharge.

The frog will have a ragged appearance and there may be local pain over the affected area.

The condition is associated with damp and unhygienic stables together with the neglect of foot hygiene.

In severe cases, the infection may spread to the underlying corium.

NB. It is very important to remove all of the damaged frog tissue so that no unhealthy tissue is available to harbour bacteria.
